Looking Ahead: Our Final Summer and the Future of WeHaKee
Bob & Maggie reflect on 21 years of leadership, their plans for one last unforgettable summer in 2026, and how they’re supporting the transition to new leadership in a way that keeps WeHaKee’s heart and values strong.
Dear WeHaKee Families,
As we reflect on the many summers we’ve spent at WeHaKee, we’re filled with deep gratitude. Being part of this camp community has been one of the greatest joys of our lives, and it continues to be an incredible privilege to serve as your directors.
With that in mind, we want to share an important update: Summer 2026 will be our final season as Directors of Camp WeHaKee, after which we will officially retire from our leadership roles.
This decision comes from a place of joy and purpose. After more than 50 years of combined experience directing camps and over two decades leading WeHaKee together, we feel the time is right to pass the torch. We believe in setting WeHaKee up for long-term success, and that means doing this with care, intention, and time.

A Thoughtful Transition
To ensure a strong and seamless transition, we’re excited to welcome Stacie Simpson and Cory Harrison as Co-Directors for the 2026 season. They are highly respected and experienced camp professionals, having previously led the top-performing YMCA camp in the country. They have already hit the ground running, meeting families and immersing themselves in the people, place, and traditions that make this camp so special.
This shared summer allows campers, families, staff and alumni to connect with Stacie and Cory as they begin to bring their incredible energy and expertise to WeHaKee. After the 2026 season, Stacie and Cory will officially become the Directors of Camp WeHaKee and will carry forward the heart and mission of WeHaKee while guiding it into its next 100 years.

Meet Stacie & Cory
With over 30 years of combined experience leading camps across the Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, YMCA, and private sectors, they bring a depth of knowledge, warmth, and vision that makes them the perfect pair to continue the legacy of WeHaKee.
Originally from central Wisconsin, Stacie has led camps throughout the Midwest and most recently served as Director at YMCA Camp Greenville in South Carolina. She is known for her thoughtful leadership, inclusive spirit, and ability to build meaningful relationships with campers and families.
Cory has spent the last two decades in year-round camp leadership, with a focus on staff development, operations, and creating programs that help kids thrive. Together, they’ve led a co-ed camp for the past ten years and are now excited to return to the Northwoods to join WeHaKee.
They are camp people through and through, and we couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead.
We’ll be sharing more from Stacie and Cory in the coming months, and they are eager to connect with our families and community. You’ll see them at camp next summer, and we know you’ll feel just as confident in their leadership as we do.
We’re so proud of what this community has built together, and we are just as hopeful about its future.
With love and gratitude,
Maggie & Bob
Directors, Camp WeHaKee
