What We Do The Rest Of The Year… Learn More! Part 2
‘Riffing off of last week’s post, we want to share many of the new and exciting things we learned while attending the CampOwners and Directors Association followed by the American Camp Association national conferences this past week in New Orleans! There is too much to share here today, so we focus on the highights!
- We explored new international games we can do at camp this summer!
- We heard from a panel of insurance people about things we should be doing to make WeHaKee even safer. I know, kind of boring, but it’s important information for the safety of all at camp!
- Another not so exciting topic, but still great information! We learned about how we can continue to improve our health and wellness services at camp.
- We heard from experts on social emotional learning – they provided new and interesting ways we can help all of our campers hone their social skills while better understanding their emotional responses, leading to more effective ways to deal with one’s emotions!
- We examined the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on camp, our campers while learning ways it can help us better communicate with our families.
- We visited with vendors and talked about new food options, took a look at some potentially new camp store items and cool new WeHaKee wear, and saw a 10 person stand-up paddle board (good chance you’ll see this at camp this summer!!).
- And lastly, we were able to connect and reconnect with other camp professionals from around the country and the world. It is so rewarding to see all the great things camp people are doing coast to coast and pole to pole!
It was an exhausting, yet exciting week. And we topped it off with a pizza party gathering of new and returning families (and a favorite former staff member!) from the greater New Orleans area. And to be fully transparent, it was the peak of Mardi Gras season in the Crescent City during our stay, so we did get out to see some the beautiful and fun parades while enjoying some great New Orleans cuisine!
Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great week!
