Why I’m Excited About WeHaKee and Why You Should Be Too
Hi friends,
I’m Stacie, and my husband Cory and I are honored to be joining Camp WeHaKee as Co-Directors. This summer we’ll be learning alongside Maggie and Bob, soaking up their wisdom and the joy they’ve shared with generations of campers. It’s an honor to join this community, and before we dive into the months ahead, I’d love to share a little about why WeHaKee feels so special to me.
When I think back to my childhood summers, I can almost hear the crackle of the campfire, smell the pine needles underfoot, and feel the warmth of my friends’ laughter as we walked arm in arm to the dining hall. Camp wasn’t just a place I went each year; it became part of who I am.
As a camper, I learned the joy of trying something new, the adventure of meeting people from other places, and the confidence to be just a little more independent than I was at home. As a teenager in camp leadership programs, I found something even deeper: the courage to use my voice, the strength to lead, and the understanding that community can be one of the most powerful forces in our lives.
Those moments shaped me in ways I’m still grateful for today. They led me to become a counselor, then a camp director, and now to my new role as Co-Director at Camp WeHaKee.
What Makes WeHaKee Different
From the very first time I learned about WeHaKee, I felt that same spark of magic I remember from my own camp days. Yes, the activities are amazing such as canoeing, horseback riding, arts, sports, and more, but what truly makes WeHaKee stand apart is the spirit that runs through it all.
At WeHaKee, every girl is seen and valued. It’s a place where kindness is celebrated, where taking a healthy risk is encouraged, and where trying something new is met with cheers from friends. It’s where belonging isn’t just a word, it’s lived every single day.
Why Parents Can Be Excited Too
As parents, we want our daughters to have summers that are more than just a break from school. We want them to have experiences that shape who they become. At WeHaKee, girls don’t just swim and ride horses; they gain independence, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
They return home humming camp songs, telling stories about silly skits and cabin adventures, and without even realizing it, they’re carrying themselves with more confidence. They’ve practiced leadership, tried new things, and found joy in being exactly who they are.

Looking Forward
I am honored to join Camp WeHaKee as Co-Director and to help continue its incredible legacy. When I picture the next generation of campers stepping off the bus, nervous, excited, and ready for adventure, I can’t help but smile. I know what’s waiting for them: the same kind of friendships, lessons, and memories that shaped me all those years ago. And the camp magic that still shapes who I’m becoming, year after year.
Welcoming the Season Ahead
As autumn begins, we are reminded that every season holds its own kind of beauty. The equinox encourages us to carry gratitude forward, to notice balance where we find it, and to embrace the changes that come with the shift into fall.
At WeHaKee, we treasure these rhythms of nature and the way they mirror the rhythms of camp life. Each season has something to teach us, and each transition holds a chance to reflect, celebrate, and grow.
With warmth,
Stacie
Co-Director, Camp WeHaKee
