Camp Water Skiing in the 1950s VS Now!
With the warm & sunny weather we have been having at WeHaKee Camp for Girls, it seemed like a good time to take a ‘then-and-now’ look at one of our most popular waterfront activities! Â Enjoy!
Waterskiing has been enjoyed at WeHaKee for decades. Â Many girls got up on a pair of skis for the very first time during their summer at WeHaKee. Â In this 1958 photo, we have a camper negotiating the chop on the waters of Green Bay. Â Check out the bathing caps! Â And notice the lack of life jackets or other PFD’s. Â Safety was approached quite differently back then!
Here is a shot from this summer with a WeHaKee camper enjoying the smooth waters of Hunter Lake! Â Then or Now, this has been a great activity at WeHaKee allowing girls of all ages to challenges themselves and taste success gliding across the waters of WeHaKee. Â And everyone has a PFD!
Did you learn to waterski at WeHaKee? Â Please tell us about your experience and how much fun you had! Â Or tell us about other things you did for the first time at camp!
