Fridays with Franky: Typical Day At Camp WeHaKee
Do you want to know what a typical day at Camp WeHaKee is like? Alright, come on! I’ll show you!
Rise and Shine! *Yawn* It’s 8 AM, do you know what that means? It’s time to get up, lazy bones! Mmm I smell breakfast – Is that bacon?! Let’s head on over to the dining lodge so we can get to breakfast by 8:30 AM. This is where most campers grab their favorite breakfast of yogurt topped with fresh fruit and granola. When all of our bellies are full, let’s head back to the cabins to clean-up and tidy around the bunk beds. (Fun Fact: whichever cabin is consistently the most clean will be awarded the ‘golden dustpan’ for cleanliness. What an honor!) Once we’ve all gotten ready for the day and I’ve licked myself nice and clean, at 9:30 AM it’s time to head to the first activity period!
The activities run for hour long periods. Did you know there are nearly 40 camp activities to choose from? There are SO many fun activities here at WeHaKee Camp for Girls led by our safe, skilled, competent and caring staff.
- 1st activity period: 9:30 AM
- 2nd activity period: 10:30 AM
- 3rd activity period: 11:30 AM
Wow. After all of those activities, I sure am starving! At 12:30 PM it’s time for lunch. I hope it’s burger day!
I usually get sleepy right around now, so after lunch, starting at 1:30 PM, I like to take a nap or have some quiet time like the rest of the girls to rest up for the next activity periods.
Boy, do I feel re-energized! Time for two more hours of activities! My favorites are doggy paddling alongside the girls on the stand up paddle boards or modeling for the girls practicing their photography skills. (Read all about the amazing activities to choose from here!)
- 4th activity period: 2:30 PM
- 5th activity period: 3:30 PM
Then at 4:30 PM it’s time to head to The Valley. While we are here, we go to the Trading Post (our camp store) and get a snack from the snack window, pick up and read our mail, and sometimes look at all the fun souvenirs located in the store. Before dinner we have Choice Time that starts at 4:55PM. This means you can go swimming, boating, or spend more time in The Valley.
At 6:00 PM it’s time for dinner! I hope we get to grill out. I LOVE hot dogs.
After mingling after dinner, it’s finally time to start the 7:15 PM evening activity. This can be anything from a cabin night to an exciting all-camp event like a gathering around the campfire! At 8:45 PM it’s time to say the evening prayer. (Don’t worry, every cabin will have their chance at leading the prayer.)
*Yawn* Well the sun has set and I’m afraid of the dark… better listen to the nightly taps and head back to the cabin by 9:15 PM. Time to get ready for bed, put on PJs, brush teeth, and have your last conversations with your cabin buddies before lights out at 10:00 PM.
Boy. What a day! I hope someday you get to join us in experiencing these awesome adventures. 🙂
