Fridays with Franky: Looking Forward in the New Year!
Happy Friday everyone! The first Friday of this new year and I am so happy to be in the year of our next summer together! I bet you’ve read plenty of Year in Review posts, so I’ll mix it up a little bit. Here’s a little list of things I’m looking forward to this year!
Paving the Way to WeHaKee
Our new road is in at WeHaKee, and I hope you had a chance to see the pictures. As fun as that is to see online, it doesn’t compare to how excited I am for that road to carry campers and staff into camp this June.
Keeping the facilities at WeHaKee in great shape is something we take great pride in. Can you imagine Lenny, our property manager, plowing snow with the tractor to get to the maintenance building? He diligently works on projects year-round like leaf removal, painting, and upkeep. What will make him really happy in the New Year is to see his hard work being put to use!
Camp Alumnae Unite
2018 was a great year for WeHaKee alumnae. We started our own Facebook page, and over 500 of us joined up to reconnect and share memories. We celebrated the 95th summer at camp and in Chicago. But I promised this wouldn’t be a year in review post! So I’m thinking forward, and of all the ideas we have planned for our WeHaKee community. Look forward to hearing from us about chances to reconnect with each other, starting with an event in Chicago on January 19th! Stay tuned to Facebook!
New and Old Faces
We’ve been having a great fall on the road, with Bob, Maggie, and Thatch out earlier than usual. College students are on the ball with their summer plans and we have worked hard to get the best staff for next summer, including some brilliant returners and super promising first-time staffers. Stay tuned to my blog, I’ll be introducing them soon enough!
We have also had the most crucial part of our 2019 summer develop, our campers! Lots of campers signed up straight away following last summer. We can’t wait to see everyone again!
We have plenty of new campers joining this summer as well. It makes me so happy to look forward to witnessing their WeHaKee experience in 2019.
There is still space in the sessions for next summer, so register now if you haven’t yet!
What are you looking forward to in the New Year!?
Hopefully it includes camp!
