Fridays with Franky: Written Letters To Campers!
Hi everyone, it’s me again. Franky, your lovable Camp WeHaKee dog! Campers love mail, you know the kind where they open an envelope and pull out a sheet or sheets of paper with a written letter from you.
It’s really pretty easy to do, but many of us have lost our letter writing skills because of email, texting, and other forms of electronic messaging. I read (yes, if I can type I can read!) a recent blog that shares some great ideas for letter writing, especially to campers.
Check out these fun and creative ways to write to your favorite camper while she is enjoying her days at WeHaKee Camp for Girls:
- Create a “fill-in-the-blanks” response letter
- Provide a “Top 10” List (à la David Letterman)
- Write a letter from a pet or favorite toy
- Make up a story about a picture you’ve seen of them
- Have everyone in the family write a “warm fuzzy” for your camper
Although we do offer families a way to send email messages to their campers, time and time again we see how campers cherish their letters from parents, family and friends so much more than the printed email message. Don’t get me wrong, they love to hear from you in whatever way you choose, but they hang onto those letters, sometimes keeping them stored in a box for years and years.
Where should you send those letters to make sure she gets them while she’s at Camp WeHaKee? Simple address them this way:
(CAMPER NAME)
CAMP WEHAKEE
N8104 BARKER LAKE ROAD
WINTER, WI 54896 USA
Keep those cards and letters coming all summer long! Have a great weekend everybody!
