Fridays with Franky: Meet the 2016 Staff, Part 8
Hi there, Franky here! I only have two more groups of WeHaKee staff for this summer to introduce… and that means we are very close to summer! Remember to check out parts 1-7 to be all brushed up on who you will meet when you arrive. Here are some more introductions!
Hey guys! I’m Catherine and I’m from South Australia. A big dream of mine was the idea of working at a summer camp in the US. Once I finished school I decided to make that dream a reality and apply for Camp America. I graduated from high school last year and I am currently in my gap year and coming to the states in June. I am really looking forward to working at Wehakee to meet new people, create new memories, and work with kids. I’ve grown up in a huge family, being the youngest of six, I’ve learned to adjust to a fast-paced environment and the importance of adapting and understanding others rather than just myself. One of my favourite things about living in Adelaide, South Australia is the beautiful summers and the many surrounding beaches, in particular Normanville, where I’ve spent every summer growing up. I cannot wait to meet you all and look forward to the summer ahead.
Catherine will have a birthday during the summer! Who else gets to celebrate their birthday at camp?
Hello! My name is Sarah and I am from Mobile, Alabama. I go to the University of Southern Mississippi where I am majoring in Philosophy with Pre-Law. I am also a newly elected SGA Senator so I am pretty excited about that! I love doing anything outdoors and more specifically anything on the water! I live about 30 minutes from the beach so usually in the summer, you can find me down on Dauphin Island kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, or even just being lazy in the sand! I am so excited for this summer and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you all!
Sarah’s little brother is the one in the picture with her. She says, “We are very close and though he will never admit it, I am his favorite!”
Hey everybody! I’m Rai. Im 19 and from New Orleans. I go to Loyola University down here in the deep south. I’m a music industry major that plays viola and guitar. Carina told me to make a list of things that I’m into so these are the things: film scores, almost every kind of music you can think of, space, theoretical astrophysics, the Earth, mixing music, making music, chai tea with almond milk, soccer, skateboarding, thunderstorms, grass, and being in the open water. There are way more things that I’m into that I can’t think of at this very moment but I’m sure y’all will learn more about me soon haha. This is a pic of me right outside that Great Appalachian Valley in Tennessee.
Rai and Carina attend the same university in New Orleans!
Hello there everyone! My name’s Kate. I’m from Chicago and am a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame, where I’m double majoring in science (pre-med, woo!) and anthropology. Here is one of the only solo photos I could find of myself, which involves some of my favorite things: ND game days and strutting like you mean it. I also like all things outdoors such as hiking, skiing, wake-boarding, and hanging out with my sis Martha at the lake. I was a camper here for six years, and cannot wait to join the WeHaKee team and meet all of you!
When Kate talks about her sister Martha, she IS talking about our Business Manager. So excited to have them both!
Hello fellow camp lovers! My name is Megan, and I hail from La Crosse, Wisconsin. I’m currently a sophomore at St. Norbert College in Green Bay, majoring in Environmental Science. Anywhere outside and water-related is my happy place, so if you can’t find me check the waterfront! I’ve lost count of how many summers I have spent at WeHaKee, but this is my second year as part of the staff family. A few fun facts about me: I proudly own 4 pairs of crocs. I have a knack for finding hats in odd places. I eat ridiculous amounts of chocolate.
Megan joins us this summer as our Waterfront Director, and we are so happy to have her!
Only one more week’s worth of staff to introduce, and then I will see you all at camp!
